Re: Issues with Microsoft accounts in Windows 8 possibly related to OLSB to O365 transition

Neo,

I understand the intended scope difference between Office365 and what are now known as Microsoft accounts.  Unfortunately, a vast number of Microsoft services require the use of of a Microsoft account.  While this affects my personal accounts at the moment, if this is completely unrelated to my OLSB transition this will affect accounts for my employer.  In that regard, services like TechNet, MSDN, and the volume licensing portal have (and I believe still do) required the use of Microsoft accounts.  We have utilized these services for years and typically have Microsoft accounts for our primary work email addresses.  Now that we have transitioned our business to Office365, it would appear that we may run into this scenario more often.  This will be even more problematic for us, as we are a university with student accounts that have now transitioned to 365 and are far more likely to be utilizing services like Xbox and would want to integrate that into their Windows 8 experience.

In short, even excluding the potential issues with my enterprise accounts, your suggested solution is unacceptable.  Transitioning services to new accounts and ensuring that billing messages are passed to the appropriate mailbox is possible, but is a significant amount of work as a workaround to a problem that shouldn't exist. In the near-term there are going to be thousands of customers that may experience the same situation that I have described, based on your feedback.  Will this be the suggested solution for all of those users?  There has to be a better long-term fix for this, because adoption of 365 and Windows 8 are both increasing.  Are the product teams working on a resolution for this issue?  Is there a timeline for a potential fix?

Thanks.
