Hi Roy,

I would like to describe your situation: you verified a custom domain in Office 365 portal, and you didn't point Name Server records to Office 365.

Meanwhile, I want to clarify the following situations, please let me know which is correct:
1. You want to change the domain hosting provider not domain registrar.
Note: User can register a domain name in domain registrar. And user manages DNS records on domain hosting provider. In some domain registrars, user can edit the DNS records at your domain registrar directly.
2. You register a new domain:
a. You just want to use it for public-facing website address.
b. You want to use it for all Office 365 service such as Lync Online, Exchange Online (outlook), SharePoint Online (public-facing website).

If you just change the domain hosting provider, to keep Office 365 service working properly, you need to copy those records to the new provider panel.

Here is an article for your reference:
Use a custom domain name for your SharePoint Online public-facing website address

If there are any issues about the clarifications, please post them in the forum. In addition, regarding the current requirements, could you give some detailed description such as current situation, target?

Thanks,
Ida Qiu
