Thanks for the reply.
The SPW 2010 hotfix sounded hopeful however I downloaded it and got the message "there are no products affected by this package installed on this system". So I guess not (even though SPW 2010 is installed).
I am happy to upgrade to Office 2013 as in your second link however I don't know if my O365 plan (P1 which I assume is 'small business something ..') has SPO 2013 on the other side (I suppose it must being Microsoft's own server technologies).
Can you point me to any articles about upgrading to 2013 and any new implementations I should understand for syncing with a local copy and Skydrive Pro etc.
