StaciaS_MSFT... the problem is Microsoft is not listening to us tech people. Do you really believe small business owners are setting this up themselves? If you did, you would ditch that stupid verification and give them the information they need to simply setup their domain. What you say (if you speak for Microsoft) is backwards. I don't think you hear yourself.
I know dns... been working with it since 1997. I don't need your little snide remark.... like I don't know dns. Leave that at home with your dog and kids.
Issue is not the verification... issue is THE VERIFICATION DOES NOT WORK properly!!!!!
Here are the steps and how it breaks down:
1. I join office365
2. Tells me to verify by putting in the txt record
3. I put in the text record and it does not work (been over a week now and it still does not work)
So what broke? Issue is I have my domain hosted at my hosting company and not at godaddy, where my domain sits. I purchased my domain through godaddy, but do my hosting at another company. The other company also handles my dns.
4. So now what do I do? Verification is now broken. So much for the small business owner, they are stuck.
5. Now they go to google it works just fine.... no issues. I have NO ISSUES WITH GOOGLE'S GMAIL. Can't you understand that? Can Microsoft read?
6. Okay, back to the story... what do I have to do? Well, I have to cancel my domain hosting at my web hosting provider and temp move the domain to godaddy.
7. After it is at godaddy, I have to set it up to verify... takes a while... but eventually it will verify.
8. Now I can move on with setup and fighting with that disaster sharepoint. Actually I don't know which is worse, google sites or sharepoint. At least with google sites someone can build many useful sites quickly. SharePoint is a mess for a small company to try and get working.
Sad part is that we get people like you who don't know much defending how something works and not pushing up the issue to the people who can fix it.
No, can't say I care for the Microsoft admins here... you are not really helping people... unless getting them here keeps you in a job. In that case, job well done.
