Hi Michael,
Thanks for your updates.
In regard to the issue, my understanding is when you installed the 64 bit version of Lync 2010 in Windows 8 64 bit, you encounter the “Client not supported” issue, please correct me if I’ve misunderstood it.
To solve the issue, please try the steps below:
- Can you install the other client software(not Windows8 App) in your PC? Like Office?
- Is your PC joined in a Domain? If so, this could be caused by that the domain admin has made policies preventing users from installing software. You can try to exit the domain and try again.
- What’s the version of your Windows 8? Is it Windows 8 Home, Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise? What’s the region you’ve set for your PC? If your region or language is set to English, you can try to set it to English and install again.
- Since your Windows 8 is a 64-bit version, please note that you’ll need to download a 64-bit version instead of 32-bit(which may cause the “client not supported” issue).
- If you want to try Lync 2013, you can sign up a trial account in Office.com and download an Office copy(which will have Lync inside)
If the error still persisted, please help to capture a screenshot of the error message and post it for further troubleshooting. Please feel free to post your updates here at your convenient time.
