Hi Michael,

Thanks for your updates.

In regard to the issue, my understanding is when you installed the 64 bit version of Lync 2010 in Windows 8 64 bit, you encounter the “Client not supported” issue, please correct me if I’ve misunderstood it.

To solve the issue, please try the steps below:

  1. Can you install the other client software(not Windows8 App) in your PC? Like Office?
  2. Is your PC joined in a Domain? If so, this could be caused by that the domain admin has made policies preventing users from installing software. You can try to exit the domain and try again.
  3. What’s the version of your Windows 8? Is it Windows 8 Home, Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise? What’s the region you’ve set for your PC? If your region or language is set to English, you can try to set it to English and install again.
  4. Since your Windows 8 is a 64-bit version, please note that you’ll need to download a 64-bit version instead of 32-bit(which may cause the “client not supported” issue).
  5. If you want to try Lync 2013, you can sign up a trial account in Office.com and download an Office copy(which will have Lync inside)

If the error still persisted, please help to capture a screenshot of the error message and post it for further troubleshooting. Please feel free to post your updates here at your convenient time.
