My partners and I (two brothers & a sister) use Outlook (2007 & 2010), and have the Office 365 P1 plan . We all have quite a few contacts with notes, birthdays, categories, etc. If one of us adds or modifies a contact in Outlook, then the other two will also have to add or modify that contact in Outlook. We would like to use Office 365's GAL or SharePoint, if possilble, to store all of our contacts (internal & external to our operations) and have them available to us in Outlook and our mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.). We want the power and flexibiblty of the Outlook Contacts available to us in the "cloud" or again Office 365.
First, could you please confirm our understanding that the External Contacts within Office 365 is basically the GAL, or where contacts are entered to populate the GAL? It appears that there are some serious limitations to the GAL, since there are only a few fields available. Is it just our Office 365 plan or that's just the way it is?
I have read some other posts that talk about creating some sort of SharePoint contacts database, but nothing mentions iphones or devices accessing it.
We are looking forward to hearing from somebody who has/had the same need and is familiar with mobile devices.
Thank you & best regards.
