Re: Unable to verify domain (hosted by Yahoo Small Business)

Hi benlo,

Thanks for your post.

First I’d like to confirm how long you have verified the domain. Actually, typically it takes about 15 minutes for DNS changes to take effect. However, it can take up to 72 hours for a changed record to propagate through the DNS system. Thus we recommend you to wait for 72 hours to see if it works.

Additionally, since you added the same domain to another account, we also recommend you to delete all DNS records you added before.

If the domain still cannot be verified for more than 72 hours, please feel free to tell me here.

Regards,
Ella Huang

Hi Eddie,

I understand that you are not available to set up ADFS on your environment. You are wondering if you should turn off directory synchronization.

You do not need to delete users. If you’ve activated and installed the Microsoft Online Services Directory Synchronization tool, you can’t run a cutover Exchange Migration. Since you’ve installed the directory synchronization tool and activated it, you can deactivate directory synchronization and then run a cutover Exchange migration. For more information, see Manage directory synchronization.

You can also run the PowerShell cmdlet “Set-MsolDirSyncEnabled –EnableDirSync $false” to turn directory synchronization on or off for a company. To do so, you can refer the following steps:

1. Install the Local Windows PowerShell cmdlets. To do this, visit the following Microsoft website:
Use Windows PowerShell to manage Office 365
2. Start Microsoft Office Online Services Module for Windows PowerShell.
3. Disable directory synchronization. To do this, type the following cmdlet, and then press Enter:
Set-MsolDirSyncEnabled –EnableDirSync $false
4. Verify that directory synchronization was fully disabled by using the Windows PowerShell. To do this, run the following cmdlet periodically:
(Get-MSOLCompanyInformation).DirectorySynchronizationEnabled
This cmdlet will return True or False. Continue to run this cmdlet periodically until it returns False, and then go to the next step.

Note It may take 72 hours for deactivation to be completed. The time depends on the number of objects that are in your Office 365 subscription account.
5. Try to update an object by using Windows PowerShell or by using the Office 365 portal.

Note:
Step 4 may take a while to be completed. There is a process in the Microsoft Office 365 environment that computes attribute values. The process must be completed before the objects can be changed by using Windows PowerShell or by using the Office 365 portal.

For the detailed information, you can refer the article: Migrate All Mailboxes to the Cloud with a Cutover Exchange Migration.

Thanks,
Monica Tong

Hi zzz,

Office 365 E1 subscription is using the Lync server 2010 at this point, and will be upgraded to Lync Server 2013 in the feature.  For more information about the service upgrade, you can read the article below:

Office 365 Service Upgrade Center for Enterprise
http://community.office365.com/en-us/wikis/office_365_service_updates/office-365-service-upgrade-center-for-enterprise.aspx

Regarding the Lync voice feature, you can deploy Lync to phone for your company. The Lync to phone feature is included in Lync Online Plan 3. You can purchase Lync Online Plan 3 licenses in the Office 365 portal, go to Admin > Subscriptions: Purchase. You also need to contact a Lync-to-phone provider to get the phone numbers. For detailed information about Lync to phone, you can refer to the following articles:

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your post here.

I understand that you encounter the issue when migrate to Office 365 Preview, to further troubleshooting the issue, please help to provide the following tips for us:

  1. What’s status of your domain in Office 365 before you migrate? Is it “Verified” or not?
  2. When you said that the email sent to you has been bounced, could you please help to collect one of the NDR(Non-Delivery Report) and post it here? You can replace your info in the NDR for security.
  3. Can you access to the admin center for Exchange? To do that, please login in MOP(Microsoft Online Portal), click “Admin” section in the IE tab, then click “Exchange” to see if you have access to it.

Please feel free to post your updates here at your convenient time.

Hi caitlinokane,

Thanks for your feedback. From the scree shot, I understand that you’re using Outlook on your Windows 8 machine. And when trying to set up the Office 365 account, an error “An encrypted connection to your mail services is not available” is reported.

This issue occurs if the Autodiscover CNAME record for your domain doesn’t exist or isn’t set up correctly. Autodiscover record lets Outlook clients connect to the cloud-based service by using the Autodiscover service. Therefore, Outlook profile settings can be configured automatically by simply entering the e-mail address and password.

I suggest you make sure that the Autodiscover CNAME record is created correctly for your email domain at your Domain Name System (DNS) host. You can refer to this article to resolve the connecting issue.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your post.

Do you mean you would like to add and verify a domain to Office 365? If so, you need take three steps as followings:

1. Add the domain name to Office 365.
Detailed Reference: Add a new domain to Office 365

2. Verify that the domain name belongs to you. To do this, add a DNS record at your domain registrar site, wait for the information to propagate through the DNS system, and then request that Office 365 verify that the record is there.

3. We also recommend you to update your DNS name server records to point DNS traffic for your domain to Office 365. With that, Office 365 will host your DNS so the required DNS records for your Office 365 services (Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online) will automatically be configured for you. After the update is propagated through the DNS system, you can use your Office 365 services with your domain name.

If there’s still any confusion, please feel free to post it here.

Ella Huang

Hi George,

Thanks for your update.

Unfortunately, we don’t provide the phone support.

The TXT value is automatically generated when you verify the domain. The value won’t change only if you delete the domain and then re-add it.

Thanks,
Anna Shi

Hi Grafton,

Thanks for your update.

If the website editor works well in Internet Explorer, the issue may be listed in your local Chrome browser. Currently please use the Internet Explorer to edit the website. If you would like to use the Google Chrome but it still does not work, I’d like to suggest you contact your local Information Technology administrator to fix the browser issue.

Thanks,
