Re: Outlook 2010 will not login to download email since password change

Hi Kenr,

As I understand, your password had expired three weeks ago, you changed the password at Office 365 portal. Now Outlook client promotes you to enter password and even entered the password you still can’t log in. Am I right?

At first, I suggest try to fix your account in Outlook client:
To do this, click File on the top, click Account Settings and select Account settings, select your account name, click Repair, follow the wizard to try fixing the issue.
If any error occurs, please capture the error message and post it in this thread.

If the problem still persists, I’d like you can try the following things to narrow down the issue:
1, Test to create a new Outlook profile and see if you can configure your account in the new profile.
To do this, click Start, click Control Panel, select Mail, click Show Profiles, click Add to create a new profile, select “Promote for a profile to be used”.
For more information about creating a new Outlook profile, please refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195719.

2, Perform the Autodiscover test with the Remote Connectivity Analyzer, if any error occurs, please capture the report and post it in this thread for the further troubleshooting.

Thanks,
Evan Zhang

Re: Accessing shared mailbox from pop3

Hi Jevannet,

Thanks for you update.
To remove a shared mailbox, you may sign in MOP (Microsoft Online Portal) using your admin account, on Admin page, select Users under Management, you could delete the shared mailbox.
Then you may create a user mailbox (not a shared mailbox and recommend you use a name different from the shared mailbox you have deleted) as usually, then grant full permission to the users you want of the new user mailbox.

Thanks,
Eric Sun

Re: Licenses & Software

In terms of buying office 2010 - does every user who uses office 365 need a license for that product or just the admin?

For example - i have an admin staff of 3 - they will be the only ones to create & upload documents. However I then have another 10 staff who will need to open these documents & ammend them. I take it the 10 staff can do that via a web browser using the apps. So in this scenario I would only need 3 licensed version of office 2010.

I downloaded recently the trial version P1and apart of creating a Team Site acessible to all company users I want to creat a site or document library where all prsonal folders and company files will be stored. This part has to be visible only by the administrator and not from the rest of the users. How can I do this?

Hi gstyl,

As a quick solution , please refer to the steps below:
1. Login teamsite with administrator account.
2. Create the document library which visible only by administrator
To do this click Libraries then click Create, select Document Library enter the Library name and click Create.
3. Add the users which you would like to let them have administrator permission into Viewers Group.
To do this click Site Actions, select Site Settings, click Site permissions, select Team Site Owners Group and add users.
4. Click the library which you created in the Libraries , Upload a file.(It’s important, if the library is empty , you cannot setup library permission.)
5. In the ribbon banner,  Click Library which under Library Tools, then click Library Permissions which under Settings.
6. In this Permissions Tools, click Stop Inheriting Permissions then click OK, so This list item has unique permissions.
7. Select all the permissions in this list and click Remove User Permissions, after remove these permissions you can grant permissions that who can view and who can edit this list item.
8. Click Grant Permissions and add Team Site Owners Group with Full Control permissions, click OK.
9. After you finish these operates, only Team Site Owners user can view and edit it.

Thanks,
Alex Du

Hi Evan,

Thank you very much for your response! Yes, you are right in your understanding of my problem. I have already tried the items you suggested (several times), except for creating a new profile, which I have considered but have concerns about it screwing up my Outlook files, settings, losing email, etc. so I have questions for you regarding that.  First let me say that I have tried the Repair wizard in Outlook at least twice and the Autodiscover with the RCA but do not recall errors nor save any reports from either.

I would first like to try creating a new profile but want to ask how I ensure that 1) I will not lose access to any of my email, archives, calendar, tasks, contacts, etc. and 2) that my desktop Outlook 2010 will use my local pst/ost files and not try to download my entire online 2GB store of email on the server, (which I had happen in the past, but which is very impractical since I only have a limited internet data connection through cellular modem since I live in a rural area.)

I will follow the process as you describe and in the MS kb article, but can you please tell me how to avoid the problems outlined above?  I look forward to your reply and greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thank you and best regards,

Ken

Hi Ken,

You tried to repair the account in Outlook and it is successes? But you still can’t receive/send emails. Is this right?

When Outlook is running, what’s the status of Outlook on the status bar? If all things are right, the status looks like below.

When you create a new profile of Outlook and set up account again, Outlook will download the mails and other items again. And you won’t lose any data. You can refer to Evan’s suggestion to create a new profile and set up the account again.

Thanks,
Ray Yang

RE: Want to remove my domain and end my office365

No change - everything is exactly the same.

i CANNOT remove my vanity domain from Office365.

I'm hoping that somebody can tell me how to raise a call with Microsoft to get it removed. Otherwise my subscription will end on the 7th of September, and presumably my vanity domain will forver be stuck in the microsoft world - i shall move everything out, my personal and professional stuff, and call that it.
